Born in Brighton, Sussex, Dominick Sheldon is a British photographer, director, and co-founder of 834 Mibu, a photographic artist residency based in Kyoto, Japan. He lives and works between Los Angeles, Europe and Kyoto.
After studying in France, Sheldon completed a BA with Honors in Photographic Arts at the University of Westminster in London. He later moved to New York, where he further developed his career.
Since establishing his own studio practice, Sheldon has worked with an international clientele across fashion, editorial, and creative industries. His work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery and continues to appear in leading fashion and editorial publications. His published journals are carried by renowned bookstores including Claire de Rouen Books, The Photographers’ Gallery, Yvon Lambert, and SO BOOKS.
Rooted in an ongoing exploration of identity, perception, and cultural belonging, Sheldon’s work examines the relationship between the individual and the visual languages of fashion, craft, and design — considering how these elements shape one’s place within contemporary culture.
